Step 1: Apply To The Regional Authority

You will have to apply to the regional authority of DGFT in the AAIAT rated form 2A (ANF 2A) format, whose jurisdiction is located in your registered office.

Step 2: Documents Required For IEC Application

1: formal documents:

  1. Duly filed Aayaat Niryaat Form.
  2. Statement of bank receipt/demand draft as proof of payment of application fee Rs. 500 / -. DD attracted in favor of zonal DGFT.

2: Certificate from applicant firm’s banker in the specified format.

3: Self-certified copy of the permanent account number (PAN) issued by income tax authorities. (An IEC is issued against a PAN number only.)

4: Two copies of the applicant’s passport size photo. The photograph on the banker’s certificate should be verified by the applicant’s banker.

5: Due to the self-addressed envelope, Rs. 15 /- (for local address) and Rs. 20 /- (for outstation) is indicated.

6: Applicant firm/person’s address proof.

7: Details of the factory located in India and abroad with partners/directors/proprietors/trustees and their full details, list of branches, registered office, head office, and contact details.

8: In the case of limited companies (both private and public):

  1. Board resolution in favor of the applicant.
  2. Memorandum of Association with incorporation certificate.
  3. In the case of transfers of directors, Form 18 in case of change of from 32 and registered office-as applicable.

9: In the case of a Partnership firm:

  1. Showing the date of formation of the firm, Notarized Partnership Deed
  2. NOC from other partners/HUF.

Step 3: Download The IEC Application Form

You can download the application from and search for “Form for Issuer Importer Code Number (IEC)” or use this link or get a form from any Regional Offices of DGFT.

Step 4: Submit The Filled Application

You can submit the filled application to your Regional DGFT office with all necessary documents or you can post it in Regional DGFT office.

Step 5: Check The Status

You will be given a file number and you can use it to to check the status of your application.

How to Apply for Import Export Code – Online

Steps to carry out the above-mentioned heading is as follows;

Step 1: Submit A Duly Filled Application Form

You must submit a duly filled application form online on the DGFT official website along with the necessary documents. These documents should be in PDF format only.

Step 2: Have Scanned Copy

You should have a scanned copy of the following in gif format which should not exceed 300 KB:

  • PAN (both sides),
  • applicant Photograph,
  • Bank Certificate.

Step 3: Must Have A Net Banking Account

The exporter should have a net banking account with one of the following banks:

  • IDBI

Step 4: Go To DGFT Website

You have to go to the DGFT website and click on “IEC Online Application”.

Step 5: Enter Your PAN Number

Then you have to enter your PAN number. So to create new IEC applications, select ‘Create’ from the ‘File’ menu.

It will then display you a new ‘ECOM Reference No’.

Step 6: Fill In Your Details

You will then have to fill out the details of the applicant’s name and designation, address, PIN code, phone number, email address, date of installation, date of PAN, right to issue PAN, banker’s name, bank account number.

THEREAFTER, You will have to make a payment of Rs.250 through online fund transfer from the selected banks.

Step 7: Upload The Documents

It is compulsory for all applicants to upload documents based on your organization. The company, sole owner, partnership, etc., PAN card, photograph and bank certificate.

  • PANC to upload PAN copy.
  • FOTO to upload the applicant’s photo.
  • BKYC for uploading bank certificate copy.
  • MOAS to upload Memorandum of Understanding.
  • EBRA to upload extract of a board resolution.
  • In the case of change of FM 32 directors, upload Form 32.
  • In the case of change of FM18 registered office, for uploading Form 18-wherever applicable.
  • If necessary, upload AOTH any other relevant document.
  • ANFP will always be disabled.
  • NRID to upload RBI approval letter (Applicable in case of NRI).

The necessary documents have been completed and submitted to the DGFT which you will get your IEC in one or two weeks.

Step 8: Modify IEC (Import Export Code)

If someone wants to modify the IEC, then if the application for amendment or amendment is made within 90 days then no fee is payable but if after 90 days then Rs. Is paid. 1000 is to be made in the form of a demand draft for the respective Regional Authority.
